Karen’s Place

The world as I see it, through the the lens or otherwise…

Interests

Photography

Thanks to my sister, my camera as mentioned on my About Me page is Canon EOS Rebel XT (EOS 350D).

Also thanks to my sister, my lenses are:

Canon 18-55mm

Quantaray 18-125mm

Quantaray 70-300mm

I’d really like to get a Canon or Canon compatible 50mm lens next, I understand they are great for portraits.

Art

I have to say, I never really had an interest in art until I met Thom Kansas (not his real name). He is a graduate of the one of the best art institutes in the country and why his work is not hanging in galleries is beyond me. One day it will happen for him, his work is starting to sell. He has one piece that has captured me so deep I thought of having it as my next tattoo.

Music

Music is important to me. I’m known for having my radio up so loud in my car I can’t hear my cell phone ring. I enjoy all kinds from country to metal. Some of my favorites right now are:

The Eagles - Have you heard the new album?? I can only hope they will come to Kansas City!
Carole King - Her voice is timeless
Linkin Park
Ozzy Osbourne - Who knew I would like the singer who bit the head off a bat!?
Alan Jackson - I know he’s old school-but he’s still good
Harry Connick, Jr. - Ahhh, what a voice, and of course
Paddy Gibney and Bill Ayerbe

I could go on and on, but no one really cares…

Animal Rescue

If you are thinking of an animal for your family, please consider a homeless animal from a shelter or foster family. There are even pure breeds in your local shelter.

Check out www.petfinder.com for all things regarding pet adoptions.

If you are thinking of surrendering your dog to a shelter, please take a long look at the reason why you want to do it.

*Is your dog misbehaving?
*having accidents in the house?
*chewing your valuables?

Keep in mind these are not the dog’s fault, these are the owner’s fault. A dog is only as good as he/she is trained.

If you find yourself unable to take care of your animal, or are aggressive toward it, then please-yes surrender it. We aren’t allowed to hurt our children, we should not be allowed to hurt our animals.
